Many places in Bar Harbor allow well-behaved dogs outside, so it is always worth just asking the restaurant if you’re not sure. If you want to plan ahead, here are some of the most dog friendly restaurants in Bar Harbor.
Bar Harbor Beerworks: The spacious outdoor and covered patio is dog friendly.
Cafe This Way: Dogs are allowed on their outdoor patio.
Choco-Latte Cafe: Tables on the front patio are dog-friendly.
Jeannie’s Great Maine Breakfast: Dogs are allowed at tables in the small outdoor courtyard.
Looking Glass Restaurant: Dogs are allowed on the large outdoor patio, which has sweeping views of the bay and Porcupine Islands.
Mainely Meat BBQ at Atlantic Brewing Company: Dogs are allowed on the covered outdoor patio. A special dog menu is also available.
Paddy’s Irish Pub: Dogs are allowed on the outdoor patio that has an oceanfront view.
Side Street Cafe: Dogs are welcome on their small outdoor patio. Note: the space can be tight and only dog is allowed per table.
Stewman’s Lobster Pound: Dogs are allowed on the outdoor deck, which is covered and heated on chillier days. A dog menu is also available.
The Travelin Lobster, LLC: All seating is outdoors (partially covered) and dogs are welcome at any of their picnic tables.
Dog Friendly Hotels
Why leave your dog at home when they can snuggle up in your hotel room. Below are some of the most dog friendly hotels in Bar Harbor. We always recommend calling about their pet policy before booking, as some hotels only have a limited number of pet-friendly rooms.
Atlantic Eyrie Lodge: Designated pet friendly rooms are available on the lower floors for an additional $45 fee.
Balance Rock Inn: There is a $50 fee per pet per night. There is a limited number of pet friendly rooms so it is recommended to book by calling.
The Bayview Hotel: Up to two dogs under 40lbs each allowed per room for an additional $50 per night. Pets can’t be left unattended in the room.
Belle Isle Motel: One pet per room allowed for an additional fee of $30 per night. Pets are not allowed to be left unattended in the room.
Hanscom’s Motel and Cottages: Pets are allowed for a fee of $22 per pet, per night but there are conflicting reviews. Call and ask about their pet policy before making a reservation.
Gallagher’s Travels Motel and Cabins: One pet up to 100 lbs is allowed for an additional fee of $30 per night. Two pets up to 100 lbs are allowed for a fee of $55 per night. A dog park and waste bags are available on the property.
Holiday Inn Resort Bar Harbor: Pets less than 30lbs are allowed for an extra $75 per night. All rooms are pet friendly.
Wonder View Inn: Up to two dogs of any size are allowed for an additional fee of $25 per pet, per night. Dogs may not be left unattended in rooms.

Hit the Trails In Acadia National Park
While some trails are off-limits to pets, there are still more than 100 miles of beautiful hiking trails and 45 miles of carriage roads within Acadia for you to hike with your dog. Just make sure to keep your dog on leash at all times.
Little Long Pond Off-Leash Area
Looking for a place to let your dog run free off-leash? Head to Peabody Drive at Bracy Cove within Acadia National Park. But note, dogs MUST be under voice control because the area is surrounded by trees but is NOT fenced in.
Walk the Shore Path in Downtown Bar Harbor
Leashed dogs are allowed on the paved trail. An easy walk starting downtown, you’ll be treated to views of the Porcupine Islands, Balance Rock, Egg Rock Light and Schoodic Peninsula.
